Whether it’s a lifelong dream or a weekend getaway, Alexandria Municipal Employees Credit Union offers a variety of great savings options to help you get there. They’re all NCUA-insured, so you know your money is safe.

Our savings accounts let you earn competitive interest rates while keeping your money totally liquid so you can get to it when you need it.

Share (Savings) Accounts

A minimum deposit of $5.00 is all it takes to open a share account, commonly referred to as a savings account. A balance in this account is required for membership. It works just like a savings account. Dividends are paid monthly based on the average daily balance in the account through the month.

Share Certificates

Our term share certificates provide an investment opportunity in which funds are deposited for a fixed term – from six months to three years. Funds deposited to these accounts generally receive a higher dividend rate than on most other share accounts. Our certificates require a minimum deposit amount of $500.00. Dividends are paid on a monthly basis and at maturity. Deposits are insured up to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Early withdrawals are subject to a penalty of 30 days loss of dividends.

Club Accounts

We offer Christmas Club Accounts to help you save for your holiday shopping. This account earns a good rate of interest and dividends are deposited monthly. Our club accounts mature the first week of November, and the funds are transferred to your share account.

Direct Deposit

With our direct deposit service, you never have to worry about where your money may be and when it is safe.

At AMECU, our direct deposit offers you:

Ask your employer to help you set up a direct deposit of your paychecks to your AMECU account or, direct deposit from one of your AMECU accounts to another to pay for bills or loans or to add to a special fund. Plus, all the money deposited into the Lucky Lagniappe Savings Account is still yours and helps build your savings.

How do I open an account?

You can open a Lucky Lagniappe Savings Account by visiting the credit union. You can even set up direct deposit or scheduled transfers to increase your chance to win.

 What are the prizes?

  • Each $20.00 deposit gives you a chance to win an annual prize of up to $5,000.00

  • Each $20.00 deposit gives you a chance to win a quarterly prize of up to $1,000.00

  • Each $20.00 deposit gives you a chance to win a monthly prize of up to $100.00

What are the requirements to open a Lucky Lagniappe Savings?

  • An Alexandria Municipal Employees Credit Union member with accounts in good standing

  • Business and Trust Accounts are not eligible for this account

What is a term deposit account?

A term deposit account is a special savings account. You earn a specified dividend if the term deposit account is held for the full term; in the case of Lucky Lagniappe Savings, the term is 12 months.
